Detailed Access Statement

Event Location:

Nomadic Community Gardens, Fleet Street Hill, London E1 5ES. Entrance to the gardens is via Pedley Street pedestrian pathway.


Advance Information:

For additional information about accessibility, the nature of the project, and its interpretation or if you have special access requirements please call us at the Artangel office, open Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00, on 020 7713 1400.

Artangel’s team will do whatever is possible to meet your access and/or communication needs. The project Front of House team is available during project opening times only on a dedicated mobile phone number (number TBC). We are by request able to send copies of printed information about the work to visitors in advance. We offer a free companion ticket to all our disabled customers.


Getting to the venue by public transport:

The closest underground station is Aldgate East, which is served by the District Line and Hammersmith & City Line on the London Underground service. The closest overground station is Shoreditch High Street. Brick Lane is serviced by numerous bus routes, inc. 205, 42, 67, and 8.


Car parking:

The nearest Car Park is Truman Brewery Brick Lane Car Park, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. The Car Park is open Sunday – Wednesday, 05:40 – 12:30 and Thursday – Saturday, 05:30 – 01:30. It is a four minute walk from Nomadic Community Gardens.


Location:

The entrance to the gardens is located on Pedley Street footpath. Access to Pedley Street is via Brick Lane. Please follow the footpath around, and under the railway bridge to find the entrance. A-board frames will be positioned around the area. If you have special access requirements please call us at the Artangel office, open Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00, on 020 7713 1400, and we will do our best to accommodate you.


Access and movement when on site:

The site is an outdoor community garden with uneven flooring mostly made of bare ground with occasional hard paving. The site is wheelchair accessible but the floor surface may pose a challenge. The Front of House team is available to help wheelchair users and people on crutches if notified in advance.


Assistance animals:

Assistance animals can be accommodated within the venue. Please call us in advance at the Artangel office, open Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00, on 020 7713 1400, and we will do our best to accommodate you.


Interpretation and supplementary images:

An information leaflet about the project is available onsite with interpretative notes on the work. Copies can also be obtained in advance from our website as a pdf or in alternative formats by contacting us on 020 7713 1400.


Hearing support:

The film will be screened outdoors and all audiences will be supplied with wireless headphones in order to follow sound and dialogue. A transcription of the film is also available and copies can be obtained in advance by contacting us on 020 7713 1400.


Toilets:

Unfortunately we will no longer have a disabled toilet at the event as previously stated on our website. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if this should pose a problem and we will do our best to assist you.


Fire Safety:

An evacuation plan for the site is provided for. Should it become necessary to evacuate either of the exhibition spaces, Artangel staff will provide assisted escape from all areas and alert the emergency services. Mobility impaired visitors should ensure that they visit with an accompanying person to assist them in the event of an evacuation.
