Description of Role

We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Assistant to bring our ambitious programme to life with compelling and creative campaigns. Working as part of a small team, you will support Artangel to grow our audience with each project, crafting accessible and dynamic communications. 

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, this new role joins the team at an exciting time for our organisation and supports the delivery of the audience and content strategy across all public facing channels, from the website and newsletter to our social media platforms. 

The Marketing & Communications Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day running of the social media channels, drafting and scheduling copy, preparing newsletters and feeding into the wider programme of activity.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Coordinator (DC) to implement the audience and content strategy.
  • Day-to-day running of social media channels, developing campaigns to promote all activity with consistent visuals, voice, values and messaging, increasing brand awareness and engagement.
  • Growing audience on digital channels including newsletter subscribers and social media.
  • Supervised to draft and update web content, direct digital marketing and newsletters.
  • Support in delivering marketing assets (under guidance and where possible to template)
  • Manage and update third party marketing, including online listings for live projects and events, and supporting comms.
  • Support DC in creating assets; images, video, logos, animation prepared for web.
  • Supporting flow of assets to partner organisations.
  • Supporting supply of materials, data and assets internally to support the work of colleagues across the organisation including the production team, collection activity and development. 
  • Proofing briefs, assets, newsletters, draft designed content, ensuring consistency. 

Person Specification 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience working in marketing and communications. 
  • Proven ability to communicate ideas internally and externally.
  • Strong drafting and copywriting skills and understanding of the lead digital channels.
  • CMS experience.
  • Experience of analysing data to assess what is working and what isn't, including audience research and analytics.
  • Comfortable working within a small team that deals with different situations every day, with an understanding of organisational flow. 
  • A proactive team player, eager to learn and confident working independently. 

Desirable skills and experience: 

  • Experience working within the arts.
  • Active commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
  • Awareness of working with press teams.
  • Design skills (editing only, beginner level ok) optimised for channels, including video.
