Salary and Benefits

  • Salary – £25, 071 – £27, 673 per annum, depending on experience  
  • Annual leave – 20 days, plus bank holidays, plus one additional day's annual leave for each year worked at Artangel. The office is closed between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, these days do not come out of your entitlement
  • Employer pension contribution – 5%
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an Assistant Producer to join our busy production team and play a supportive role, reporting to the Senior Producer, Head of Production and working alongside our Head of Digital.

You will have some knowledge and experience of producing artworks in situ, and some experience of producing digital artworks for a range of contexts. The successful applicant will have a strong desire to learn more about the physical and digital production process. You will be flexible in the face of shifting timelines and evolving ideas and be a proactive team player.

Specific Responsibilities

The Assistant Producer is expected to support the production department with the research, development and delivery of Artangel’s programme of new physical and digital commissions. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Research and development in support of new physical commissions, including site research and site visits
  • Research and development in support of new digital commissions
  • Providing administrative support to the production team and Head of Digital and keeping records and files in good order
  • Booking travel and accommodation for creative teams, performers and crew
  • Drafting information packs for creative teams and performers
  • Assisting in the installation and de-installation of projects
  • Researching and liaising with contractors for specialist aspects of production
  • Sourcing and ordering equipment and materials – physical and digital 
  • Assisting with Front of House staffing for projects, including recruitment, inductions, rotas and scheduling
  • Assisting with project related documentation such as Access Statements, Event Management Plans and schedules 
  • Assisting with contextual programme events and contributing to the generation of accompanying interpretive materials
  • Maintaining equipment stores
  • Attending staff meetings and project meetings
  • ​Contributing to organisational work on equality, diversity and sustainability and helping to achieve the objectives that are the responsibility of the production team

Skills and Experience

Experience

  • Experience of producing new physical and digital projects  
  • Presenting artworks and digital artworks in museum, gallery or unusual settings 
  • Contributing to funding applications as part of a wider team
  • Stakeholder liaison
  • Assisting senior team members who are devising, planning and managing events, activities and workshops 
  • Managing set budgets
  • Drafting agreements
  • Communicating presentations to a range of audiences 

Skills and knowledge

  • Familiarity with galleries and museums across the UK 
  • Understanding of technology required for moving image presentations 
  • Understanding of the shifting technological landscape and the challenges that working with new platforms and software presents
  • Understanding of the flexibility and proactive approach required when fabricating, installing and de-installing artworks 
  • Highly effective administrative and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Effective project management skills
  • Very strong presentation and written skills
  • Understanding of data collection requirements (knowledge of Arts Council audience data requirements is desirable)
