Will Prentice worked with Artangel on Longplayer Assembly – joining 23 other participants in a non-stop 12-hour conversation relay presented live online on 26 September 2020, marking the twentieth anniversary of Longplayer.
Prentice is a sound preservationist at the British Library, where he has been caring for their 7 million audio and video recordings since 1999. His interest in sound dates to his taking up the bagpipes aged 6, and he has a Master’s in Ethnomusicology from Goldsmiths, University of London. He began his archival career digitising ethnographic wax cylinders, and is currently the Training Manager for the UK-wide Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project.
He is a Trustee of the EMI Archive Trust and Chair of the Training & Education Committee for the International Association for Sound & Audiovisual Archives.
