Lectures on Nesting is part of The Artangel Collection. It was initially presented at the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne in spring of 2018, before being exhibited at the Leeds art Gallery in Leeds and Inverleith House in Edinburgh.
Everything in this marvellous Artangel exhibition – a show of marvels in itself – turns upon the astonishing connections between ornithology and art – Laura Cummings, The Observer, 10 September 2017
Lectures on Nesting are a series of four screenprinted posters promoting one-off performances of 'Lecture on Nesting' by Andy Holden and Peter Holden. The lecture was a live event, mostly improvised, in which father and son talked about nests, Peter Holden providing the scientific point of view of an ornithologist whilst Andy Holden offered a more poetic interpretion of nests as sculptural objects that had been 'made'. The performances were accompanied by slides and live specimens, and it was from these events that A Natural History of Nest Building emerged.
