Civic Monument

August–September 1990

Civic Monument was presented in Birmingham, Glasgow and London in August and September 1990. Eight performers enacted a series of thematic tableaux ranging from classical idealism, work, war, leisure, to love and life in Britain today. The 45-minute performance began with a soundtrack and slide projection onto monumental structures, gradually incorporating live elements. The grand finale was a final atmospheric tableau with smoke bombs and explosive music.
