A week of ‘Art in the open’ at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham climaxed with a spectacular lakeside concert by the Bow Gamelan Ensemble. Sounds were ingeniously created from such unlikely musical sources as tin baths, vacuum cleaners, broken glass, old washing machines, oil drums, glass cylinders and blow torches – the discarded junk of our industrial age.
