KEITH PIPER
Chanting Heads

June–October 1988

The travelling audio sculpture Chanting Heads by Keith Piper toured Britain from June until October 1988. Four massive sculptural heads were mounted on a customised lorry trailer. Through their loud speaker mouths the heads broadcast a collage of speech, songs and chants, exploring elements which link the struggles of black and Third World peoples around the globe. The sculptures made nineteen one-day appearances at seventeen different locations around the country.
