The Spectacolor screen on Piccadilly Circus is primarily used as an advertising vehicle for national and multi-national corporations. Via this high profile computer-animated screen, Artangel enabled artists to intervene in a major commercial context. Another Standard made witty comments on the Union Jack by putting it through a series of fast changing graphic forms relating to its use on tacky London souvenirs and its symbolic power as the national flag.
