Artangel commissioned billboards, fly-posters, newspaper ads, postcards and bus ads that all appeared in the Manchester area bearing the phrases: “Acceptable levels of CONTAMINATION / STARVATION / RADIATION / INSEMINATION / EDUCATION / PRIVATISATION / EXPERIMENTATION / RATIONALISATION”. The posters bore a logo and a phone number for Contracts International, a fictitious agency. A recorded message invited the caller to come to a public discussion about “the Unacceptable Face of Art” at Manchester Town Hall.
