Under the flashing sign announcing “Free Viewing” at 118 Old Compton Street, Soho, three discreet eye-level slits invited passers-by to peek inside. What they saw was almost certainly unexpected; an elusive flickering image of an ever-changing figure, sometimes resembling the resurrected Christ and at other times looking like a comic book super-hero.
